The A18 Pro's single-core lead is the number that matters most for everyday feel, because most app work is still single-threaded: opening apps, rendering pages, and responding to taps. Its 10 percent Geekbench advantage comes with lower power draw, about 6.6 watts against roughly 7 watts for the 8 Elite while scoring higher. The Speedometer 3.0 gap is even more striking. Beebom measured 33.4 on the iPhone against 21.4 on the 8 Elite device, a 56 percent difference in web app responsiveness, and while iOS software optimization plays a role in that, the result is what users actually experience when a page gets heavy.

GPU, gaming, and ray tracing

On raw graphics the 8 Elite is clearly ahead. It wins Wild Life Extreme by 38 percent, wins the Solar Bay ray tracing test by 33 percent, and in Tom's Guide's frame rate testing it ran Wild Life Unlimited at 150.9 fps against the iPhone 16 Pro's 109.3. It also holds its clocks better under sustained load, with 83.3 percent stability against the A18 Pro's 67.7 percent, meaning Apple's chip throttles more during long gaming sessions.

The catch is real games. In Geekerwan's measurements, relayed by Beebom, the demanding title Wuthering Waves ran at 58.4 fps drawing 5.3 watts on the 8 Elite and 56.3 fps drawing 5.4 watts on the A18 Pro, a near tie, and Honkai: Star Rail matched at similar power. The gap shows up in synthetic stress tests and peak frame rates more than in shipping games, where both chips land at the same 60 fps ceiling most titles target.

Efficiency and heat

The efficiency picture is genuinely mixed, and each chip wins a different column. In CPU work the A18 Pro is the sipper: Geekerwan measured about 12 watts in the Geekbench multi-core run against 16.5 watts for the 8 Elite, roughly 27 percent less power for about 11 percent less performance.
