Across Nanoreview's aggregated data, the Snapdragon 870, the 2021 near-flagship that powered phones like the POCO F4, wins exactly one contest: single-core Geekbench 6, by 14 percent, thanks to a Cortex-A77 prime core clocked at 3.2GHz. The Dimensity 8100, MediaTek's 2022 efficiency play inside the POCO X4 GT and OnePlus 10R, wins everything else: 8 percent higher on AnTuTu 11, 9 percent in multi-core, 27 percent in the memory sub-score, and a 6-watt thermal design against the Snapdragon's 10, on TSMC 5-nanometer silicon against 7.
The phone-level data adds a twist that inverts part of the chip-level story, and it needs the usual cautions. AnTuTu versions differ, with the chip table drawn from v11 aggregates and the phone table from Kimovil's v10 listings, which are not comparable across tables. More interesting: the POCO F4's public Geekbench aggregate sits well below the Snapdragon 870's chip-level average, 1,042 against 1,298 single-core, a device-and-firmware effect that flips the single-core ordering when you compare the actual phones buyers can still find. Every figure below carries its source and version, and PetaTech24 ran none of these tests.

The single-core story
The Snapdragon 870's one clear win is still a real one. Its Cortex-A77 prime core runs at 3.2GHz, a very high clock for its generation, and single-threaded speed still governs app launches, page rendering, and interface response. At chip level the 870 leads by 14 percent, 1,298 against 1,139 in Geekbench 6. But the phone-level table complicates the picture: the POCO F4's public aggregate of 1,042 sits far below the 870's chip average, while the POCO X4 GT lands at 1,083. Compare the phones people actually buy and the single-core ordering flips, with the Dimensity device slightly ahead. The chip sets the ceiling; the phone decides what you get, and on this specific pairing the Snapdragon's best card plays weaker than its aggregate suggests.
The everything-else story
The Dimensity 8100 sweeps the remaining columns, and the reasons are architectural. Four Cortex-A78 performance cores against the 870's one-plus-three A77 arrangement deliver the multi-core win, 3,842 against 3,520. A newer TSMC 5-nanometer process and a 6-watt thermal design against 10 explain why the 8100 built its reputation on sustained performance and battery life, and LPDDR5 support at 6,400MHz drives the 27 percent memory sub-score gap. The GPU picture is closer than the spec sheet suggests: the Adreno 650 is an older architecture at a lower clock, but it holds the 870 within 12 percent of the Mali-G610 MC6 in the AnTuTu graphics sub-score.
Why this comparison still matters in 2026
Both chips are now four and five years old respectively, deep into the refurbished and hand-me-down market, and that is exactly where this verdict gets used. A buyer choosing between a used POCO F4 and a used POCO X4 GT or OnePlus 10R is choosing between the Snapdragon's stronger single-threaded ceiling and the Dimensity's newer process, lower power draw, and better sustained behavior. The phone-level scores say the real-world gap is small in either direction, a few percent, and the condition of the specific used device matters more than the badge on its silicon.
