Apple has not yet set the iPhone 18 Pro calendar. Analysts now cluster around a short list of September dates, and the logic comes from the calendar itself: Labor Day falls on Monday, Sept. 7, and the Friday after the likely keynote is Sept. 11 the 25th anniversary of the 2001 attacks. Both dates are nudging the projection away from Apple's usual rhythm. Here is what is projected, what is disputed, and what is still unknown.

The lineup, too, is unusual. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman expects the iPhone 18 Pro, the iPhone 18 Pro Max, and Apple's first foldable iPhone to share the same stage, alongside new Apple Watch models. But this is also a split launch: multiple reports keep the standard iPhone 18 (plus the iPhone 18e and a second-generation iPhone Air) out of the fall keynote and push them to spring 2027. It also marks the first iPhone launch under John Ternus, who becomes Apple's CEO on Sept. 1.

The Wednesday keynote: why Sept 9 leads (but isn't locked)

Sept. 9 is the strongest projection, not a certainty. The case for it: Labor Day is Sept. 7, and there has historically been at least a two-day gap between the holiday and the event (MacRumors), which points to Wednesday rather than the Tuesday right after. That is Gurman's current lean and has been Phelan's call for weeks. Gurman places the event in the first half of September, which still leaves Sept. 9 or the following week open. And Apple does not only keynote on Tuesdays  2022 was a Wednesday and 2024 was a Monday so "the usual Tuesday" is a loose guide, not a rule.

Bottom line: Wednesday, Sept. 9 is the leading projection  not a lock. The cleanest test is Apple's invite, likely in the Aug. 25–26 window if the 14-day pattern holds.

The Saturday pre-order: Gurman's call, not Apple's

The projected Saturday, Sept. 12 pre-order is an inference, not an Apple statement. Pre-orders usually open the Friday after the keynote; this year that is Sept. 11, the 25th anniversary of the 2001 attacks. Gurman's reasoning is that Apple moved pre-orders to Saturday, Sept. 12 back in 2015 to step around the same anniversary, and he expects a repeat. (Phelan himself had Friday, Sept. 11 earlier and adopted the Saturday date after Gurman's note.) It is a reasonable read of history   but it is a read of history, not a confirmation.

The foldable question: unveiled ≠ on sale Sept. 18

Apple's first foldable is widely expected to be unveiled at the September keynote. Whether it ships on Sept. 18 is a separate, openly disputed question. Gurman and Phelan both flag that small initial production volumes could mean the foldable arrives later, and MacRumors reports it may be limited to the U.S. at first  which matters for buyers outside the U.S. Treat any single "foldable release date" as speculation until Apple specifies it.

What you can actually do now

There's nothing to buy or pre-order yet, and nothing that needs doing tonight. If you're planning around this launch, here's what genuinely helps  once the invite lands:

• Watch for the invite. If the 14-day pattern holds, expect it around Aug. 25–26. That is the real "confirmed" moment for the date.
• How to watch. If the usual 10 a.m. Pacific slot holds, the keynote streams on Apple's site, the Apple TV app, and YouTube  roughly 11 p.m. in Bangladesh. Time of day is itself unconfirmed.
• Pre-order prep. Have your Apple ID, payment method, and trade-in details ready. Don't pre-pay anyone for a "projected" date.
• Outside the US? Local availability often trails the U.S. on-sale date, and the foldable may launch U.S.-first  treat Sept. 18 as the earliest, U.S.-centric date, not a universal one.
